Santa Croce Camerina is to be found in the province of Ragusa, in the south east of Sicily. It is a little town, but well located near important sea side resort like Marina di Ragusa and smaller sea village like Punta Secca.

It is worldwide famous for its religious festival in March for the co-patron saint of the town, San Giuseppe. This religious festival marks the beginning of the spring and attracts many local and foreign people. The faithful offers to the saint a "cena" in which are included all the early fruit and vegetables, all the local culinary traditions, vine and beautiful flowers in order to thank the saint for a mercy received. The characteristic of this "cena" is the bread handmade and decorated in a wonderful way.

Punta Secca is a small sea side village, near Santa Croce Camerina. The residents call it “a sicca” (shallow), probably because of a pile of rocks in front of its east beach, exactly a shallow. The village owes its recent popularity as a set of the famous Italian fiction “Il Commissario Montalbano”. The villa of Montalbano is in the fiction actually set in one of the village’s villas.
